![]() Have a '12 Ninja 650 (ER6F) in the garage - in all honesty it is all of the bike I need for the street. Plan is to possibly add another bike sometime next year. ![]() As I am aging it is not unusual for me to done Bionic full face shield/ear muffs when doing stuff anymore.īack to your inquiry, I have been researching a ton into this very same topic for at least 7 months now. I wear prescription glasses and cannot recall how many times they saved my eye from random crap. Always on the back of my mind doing yardwork/garage stuff. I can ride several hours on the Tuareg without fatigue, but if I was planning an adventure more than a days ride away I would consider trailering the bike - besides I am more into motel camping than rough camping. I spent a weekend on the Desert X Ducati and when I went back to the Tuareg it felt like a toy in comparison.īut even a T700 or the 660 are NOT going to feel like a dirtbike or motard. Lighter, smaller, just as if not more capable than the larger bikes, and certainly easier to pick up when you drop it. I would suggest looking at the Tenere 700, the Tuareg 660, and maybe the smaller KTM (orange tax). Bags, center stand, bag holders, riding gear = whoops another few grand If hours or days then the bigger bikes do make sense, but they will suck in every way compared to a smaller lighter bike.ĭon't forget that buying the bike is just the start of spending money on an ADV bike. Too big, too heavy, and really a compromise all around. If less than an hour, I would totally disregard any bike over 700cc. ![]() First question would be - how much highway riding do you expect in order to get to the trails? He was hit with a golf ball by a golfing buddy.ĪDV bikes. Sorry to hear about the eye - my dad lost his right eye when I was a teenager, it did affect him a little, but was more a blow to his confidence. Please share any experiences with any of these small and cheap bikes Really liking the funky looks of those and from what I've read, they're basically the same as the KTM's with different bodywork. Been thinking about a Kawasaki Versys 300, BMW 310GS, Kawasaki KLR650 (a tank I know and last on the list), KTM 390 and now I've discovered Husqvarna Svartpilen 401's as well. I had two in mind, but the more I look, the more cool ones I find. As long as it can comfortably get up to highway speeds without redlining the shit out of it, I'm ok with it. I took my Duc on a dirt road or two and nothing just felt so wrong. Just something that if I find a dirt road, I won't feel bad about exploring it. Just interested in a bike that is capable of handling gravel/dirt roads just fine. I've shifted interests to maybe getting an adventure-style bike, but don't need or want anything big (big power, big weight, etc.). I've owned 4 bikes, each one with more power than the last. The bike was tempermental around town and hated slow speeds, and for that reason I wasn't a big fan of the bike. The Ducati: I have never needed a 130 hp bike, and never even squeezed it that hard. However, I do accept that maybe I should slow down a little bit. ![]() I'm mostly unfazed aside from the mental damage. I have since lost an eyeball in '21 to an embarrassingly retarded reason. Lame, I know, but they're pretty nice cabinets (insert Hide the pain Harold face here). I sold my last bike in 2019 (a '15 Ducati Streetfighter 848) in '19 to help pay for kitchen cabinets. Have really had the itch to get another motorcycle.
